Introduction

Association for Social Health in India (ASHI) is a non-governmental voluntary organisation committed to Promoting Social Health of people.

ASHI Believes that: The primary focus of all its activities is women and children, as they seem to be the most vulnerable group.

  • Social Health is an integral part of the all-round health of a person.
  • A well-integrated family and community network forms the bedrock on which a healthy society stands.
  • Evils such as children and women’s exploitation, irresponsible sex resulting in sexually transmitted diseases (STD), including Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), un-married motherhood as well as drug and alcohol dependency are symptoms of a deeper social malady.
  • These problems can be remedied through systematic and sustained efforts.
  • People who are suffering in any critical situation can be helped to gain control of their life.
  • Women are the pivots of society and a healthy women means a healthy society. They can play a better role in the betterment of society if they are empowered to do so.
The vision of ASHI is to achieve a healthy, happy society. That its people do not feel discriminated against, deserted or uncared-for, where victims of human frailties do not remain a burden on the rest of the humanity and that people helped by ASHI become self-reliant respected members of society.
 
Profile

ASHI as a community service arm in the field of health and development. It has 19 state branches through out the country, which are located almost in every state. All these state branches are federated to its national coordination body known as “Association for Social Health in India” has thousands of members from all walks of life who have formed a strong network through out the country and are building a public, opinion for the cause of ASHI.

  • Half-Way Home is one of ASHI’s more successful projects, it is self funded by the M.P. Branch.
  • In 2007 ASHI’s project on Women’s Empowerment started at the chuama village of Gurgaon an integral part of NCR.

  • Peer Led Intervention Programme (PLI).
  • Multipurpose Women’s Welfare Center.
